We have all heard of the very common phrase, “opposites attract”. So what’s all this opposites attract theory which some are believers of, yet others are doubters; while some simply don’t care at all? But take note that there are also other people who stay firm in their belief that they are very much attracted to their own “breed”.
So they don't believe in the opposites attract theory. But which one is it really: opposite poles attract or birds of the same feather flock together? Believe it or not, it can be both. Illusion is the reason why the ideas of opposites attract exist. Hmmm…still vague? intrigued now? Okay, more on opposites attract--you have probably heard of tales of persons who endlessly engage in squabbles the first time they meet; and the ironic stuff here is, more often than not, they would eventually end up being buddies.

Did it happen to you or to some of your friends—did they tell you that “You know, the first time I met Tom, I really, really disliked him. But hey, as time passed by and when we got to know each other well, what do you know! We discovered we have the same thing for sushi and we get along really well now”.
Well, indeed, who would have thought? And so some might refer to this as opposites attract. Again on the outside, it can be that way. Then you ask, why does this occur? What is this enigmatic phenomenon exactly? Actually, these individuals are very much alike. And this is the explanation behind why at first they had that glaring difference and it’s also the rationale behind why they would become close pals in the end.
Contradictions like this may take place when you give the subject a closer look. There is in fact an extract regarding on this topic. To summarize, it is said that the DNA of every human being inhabiting this earth is 99% similar. See what I mean? It’s just the trifling difference.
It’s only that 1% remaining that only gives us that disparity among others. You can also consider how much more alike those contrasting elements are to each other than different. For example, gang leaders of opposing gangs, opposing contestants in any challenge or competition vying for the same prize, cops and criminals; you know, just about any other circumstances or conditions of conflict you could imagine.
The only difference lies in these more often than not alike and differing poles is the bit of content they fluctuate at. This bit of content is which part of the whole they’re classified with; in which division of the circumstances they are associated with. For the most part, aside from this factor, the conflicting sides are exceedingly alike.
So much for opposites attract huh? Think about it—there can be no black if there’s no white, no left if there’s no right, and no negative if there’s no positive. And since one cannot exist without the other, it’s reasonable to say that they are one and the same.
