Affirmations Work - If You Let It

You've probably heard of self-
affirmations.
These are the self-scripts that
condition your subconscious
mind so that you develop a more
positive perception of yourself.
The good thing about affirmations
is that:
* It can destroy your negative
habits and replace it with
more positive ones
* It can keep you balanced and
calm so you stay focused and
speed up the progress on
your goals
* It can change your life so
you live it the way you want
to live it.
You may question its viability:
like why don't they work all the
time, or how long before they
actually start to work?
The thing is, affirmations are easy
to create and use, but, and this
is a very important but, you'll
need dedication to make them
work.
This means that affirmations will
only work if you allow it to work.
It's as simple as that.
Affirmations are everything you
think, say, believe and feel.
So if you say affirmations doesn't
work for you, this may be because
of a conflict between what you
are saying to yourself and who
you are.
Let me put it to you this way:
you are in control of your own
power; affirmations are merely
the tool to use that power to
influence yourself.
So how do you get the most out
of affirmations?
Let's talk about that.

Think about your positive attributes
What do you have going for you?
What makes
you stand out?
Basically you want to make a
list of the things that YOU like
about yourself.
These are YOUR affirmations
"I am carefree," or "I am a good
cook," are examples of the
things that you may find you
like about yourself.
Keep it positive. I mean the
whole point of affirmations is
to keep you going and not bog
you down with negative.
If you don't use positive language
then you're just dragging yourself
down.
What's the point then of doing
affirmations.
Also, use the present tense.
Because what is important is
the NOW. If you do good in the
now then you are assured of
doing good in the future.
Say it or Write it down for yourself
Well actually there's no hard and
fast rule about it. You can just
speak it to yourself but also write
it down and post it in conspicuous
places.
If you are going to speak to your-
self then do it with emotion that
will motivate yourself.
Speaking in a deadpan voice will
NOT motivate yourself.
If you write it down, look at it a
couple of times a day just so
you revive yourself.
Repetition is key. Keep doing
the affirmations UNTIL you get
the desired results.
Stand in front of a mirror and
speak directly to yourself.
Pretend your reflection is the
audience that you NEED to
connect with.
Believe in your affirmations
Remember what I said earlier,
that you are the only person
who can make it work.
No one else.
This means that you yourself
need to have faith that your
affirmations will work.
It's like shooting a ball through
the hoop; affirming that you will
make the shot is one thing, but
affirming AND believing that the
shot will go in is an entirely
higher level altogether.
But if you only affirm and not
believe that the shot will go in
then you've pretty much given
up even before the ball has left
your hand.
That's a defeatist way of looking
at things and it will not help you
move forward towards your goals.

Even with all of that, things may
not exactly go as planned. Just
don't be discouraged if it doesn't
seem to be working at first.
Everything takes time to work
and your affirmations are no
different.
Maybe you've started to take
them for granted because you
hear or see them over and over
again.
In that case just change the way
the affirmation is written or spoken.
You just might see that re-wording
the affirmations will bring back their
effectiveness.
