Hi Amy,
I'm always busy and I know
that. At the end of the day
I just feel so haggard from
all the stress that builds up
inside me due to my hectic
daily schedule.
It's affecting me to the point
that I sometimes don't have
the energy anymore or I am
always on edge ready to
snap at anybody.
What can I do to relieve my
stress so I get back to normal,
or almost normal.
Thanks,
Lenny
************************************************************
We are exposed to stress in
our daily lives - in our jobs,
our family, our friends.
It is part of our responses to
our daily interaction and can
often help you do things you
never thought possible.
However, it can also leave
you incapacitated and unable
to do anything.
The worst that can happen is
that you build up so much
stress inside you that like a
pressure chamber without a
release, you just suddenly
explode - with cataclysmic
results for you and everyone
concerned.
It doesn't have to be that way.
You just need to be able to
manage your stress level
and relieve it.
************************************************************
What causes your stress?
The most important step you
need to take is knowing what
exactly is causing your stress.
Or if there are a lot of causes
what are the major ones.
The reason for you need to do
this is so you can figure out
what you need to do in order
for you to lower that stress
level.
So for example if you get
stressed at work you then
need to figure out what it is
about work that stresses
you out and then see what
you can do to relieve that.
Find an outlet
And no I'm not talking about
a factory outlet - nice try,
although it can help take your
mind off of your stress and
redirect your mind to something
that you find fun.
Of course if you use shopping
as an outlet just make sure
you don't go overboard else
instead of relieving stress
you add to it when your
credit card bill comes.
No, when I say outlet I'm
talking more of things like
doing exercises or martial
arts, or any other physical
activity.
Exercises, or any fun physical
activity that you like can
decrease the so called bad
stress giving hormones and
release those nice, friendly,
feel-good chemicals known
as endorphins.
If you're not into exercise or
physical activity then why not
try relaxing activities instead.
Do relaxation exercises.
Basically, you're making your-
self enter into a zen like state.
Yoga is one good alternative.
If not, just try deep breathing
and meditation. Get massage
therapy to relax your whole
body.
If you're not into doing the
above then get a hobby.
What are you good at?
Drawing?
Painting?
Building something?
Do whatever it is that makes
you feel good so that you
distract yourself and soothe
your whole body, both
physically and mentally.
Let your emotions out
Laugh, scream, get angry,
or cry.
Sometimes just letting
everything out is enough
of a vent to relieve your
stress.
Laughter is the best medicine
they say and it's true.
Nothing releases tension
better than having a good
laugh, especially if it's at
your own expense.
Sometimes letting out a few
good screams is enough.
Shout away.
Just don't shout at someone
else you want to get into a
fight - not a good idea.
Relax
If you want do nothing.
Perhaps it's the most
simplistic solution but
often the most simple
one is the best one.
Just sit down and let your
body AND mind calm down.
Don't think of anything else.
Let your mind go blank.
If you want, listen to music,
take a dip in the pool, or
walk stark naked in your
living room.
Hey don't look at me like
that.
Why would that be wrong?
After all by wearing nothing
you're symbolically getting
rid of the stress you've been
carrying and starting anew.
Of course do it with the
windows closed else you
want to be known throughout
your own neighborhood.
************************************************************
If need to talk it over with
someone. If not with your
family then with your
closest friends.
Go out, watch a movie, grab
dinner, enjoy the
companionship.
Always think positive. Let
your subconscious mind
magnify your positive
thoughts so that you
recharge yourself.
Spruce yourself up. Make
yourself beautiful.
Like new paint, making your-
self look good can do wonders
in boosting your energy and
refreshing your mind and body.
And if it is really work that is
a major stress inducer in your
life then see how you can
make it a place worth
working at.
Check out how here.
Until next time,
