Goal Setting And Time Management Is Important In The Workplace

Find the perfect and harmonious
balance between your life and
your job at the personal level.

You can do it here.

Take control and have the life
others may envy and treat work
like playing your favorite sport.

*******************************************

Whether you are thinking
about your ideal future or
simply that promotion you
have always wanted, goal
setting is a powerful process
that can gear you there.

You must motivate yourself
to make your dreams into
realities.

Processing your goals helps
you choose where you want
to go in life.

When you know what you
desire to achieve, you will
know where you ought to
focus your efforts.

In addition, you will also
recognize the distractions
that would tempt you from
your own path.

We are all aware of the
temptations that exist in our
lives; it’s just that we don't
know how to avoid and
control them.

Often, it's our human desires
that become our sweetest
downfall.

Having desire is as much a
part of our lives as breathing,
but the question is, where
should we draw the line.

And how do we start
controlling it?

For example, you’re a writer
at the local newspaper, and
you have one or two or five
deadlines popping in and
out of your face every 15
minutes or so.

And despite the fact that you’d
like to finish everything you can't.

There just doesn't seem to be
enough hours in the day.

This is the point in time wherein
time-management and goal
setting comes to the picture.

I talk about time management
last time under the title "Manage
Your Time In Order To Succeed"
so I won't go in depth about this.

But why not try this: create a
schedule of your work
wherein you parcel certain times
of your day to only doing one
of your projects and one project
only.

So if you have 5 ongoing
projects, you set them up in
such a way that the most urgent
get's your first attention and so
on and so forth.

And while it may be difficult at
first, especially if you're not
used to it, try and follow your
schedule to the letter - without
any distractions if at all possible.

At the same time it would be
best if you set align your
schedule based upon the
goals set by your workplace.

To this end, both top
management and employees
need to work together toward
a common workplace goal.

What is important is that both
parties sit down and do the
goal setting together to ensure
that both parties understand
what their objectives are and
be able to create a time
management program that
will take care of those objectives.

Develop a regular schedule to
discuss upcoming goal milestones
so that each member of the work-
place know where the company
is headed and will be more likely
be headed in the same direction.

At a personal level, set your
own goals and your time
management schedule to
match those of your workplace.

It doesn't make much sense to
set things that will be counter
to what your work is expecting
of you.

You'll just be doing things for
cross-purposes. It will just be
a waste of both your time and
energy.

Even after careful planning you
may not be able to finish
everything during your allotted
time.

That's expected and should be
added into the calculation.

You can have those things
roll-over the next day.

That being said, make sure
they are the first thing you
do so that you can cross
them out your to do list.

At the same time, try to
distance yourself from the
situations that can make
you not finish your work.

Unless it’s a matter of life
and death, you should try
and stick with your objectives
and its schedule.

Remember also that you are
your own weakness.

It doesn't matter how detailed
your goal setting is or how well
timed your time management
schedule is, as long as you
don't discipline yourself to
follow them all to the letter
they are nothing more than
words on paper or on
numbers in your calendar.

Nothing is impossible as long
as you have that strong
determination to do your
utmost in order to achieve
your objectives on time.

Other people are under no
obligation to keep your
personal goal and time
setting for you.

You, yourself are the only
one who can develop an
action plan and see to its
completion.

You face any and all challenges
yourself but that being said, it
doesn't mean you are totally
disconnected from your work
mates.

You can call on them because
they are also headed in the
same direction you are - or
at least they should be.

And you can succeed more
by knowing how to deal with
your co-workers and even
your boss.

Check out my guide and see
how you can do it here.

With this guide you can
appreciate and love your
job even despite its limitations.
