Hi Amy,
Let me get to the point. I've always
had problems dealing with goals
in my life. It's not just the setting
of the goals, it's also the follow
through.
My family and friends say that my
under achieving ways is due to
my low self-esteem.
I think they may be right but I
don't know where to begin.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Tom
************************************************************
We all set goals in life. They can
range from something as simple
as saving $10 to as big as say
getting married before the age
of 30 or something like that.
For each of us the goals that
we set varies depending on our
situation, environment, and
position in life.
Unfortunately, there are people
who find it difficult to set a goal,
let alone achieve it.
This is often caused by low self-
esteem.
When you have no confidence in
the goal you have set up then it's
a sure fire indication that the goal
will not be accomplished.
Why is that?
This is because goals (be it setting
or achieving) has a direct correlation
to your level of self confidence and
self esteem.
Let me put it this way, by setting
up a goal, you display your personal
belief that you can accomplish
what you've just set for yourself.
It's that simple.
And as you progress towards
accomplishing that goal, your self-
confidence grows, more so as you
finish each step towards the end.
The law of cause of effect if you will.
A happy and fulfilled life needs a
strong foundation of personal
achievement.
Nothing beats the self-affirming
thrill of setting goals and actually
achieving them.
Of course the reverse is true.
If you fail to set goals for yourself
then you will find it difficult to truly
move forward in life.
*The goals you choose to create
and follow through are the things
that you truly feel you have a
connection with.*
When setting your goals make
certain to give each one of them
some thought.
Having the emotional connection
and desire is a big boost.
And *don't go setting a big and
ambitious goal*.
I'm not discouraging you or
anything like that.
All I'm saying is depending on your
situation I won't recommend doing
such a thing for one simple reason.
A bigger goal requires more out of
you with a smaller chance of
success.
And when you don't achieve that
goal the effect of that failure on
your self-confidence can be
devastating.
Instead, *start with a goal that's
easily achievable*. A SMART
goal if you will.
How about putting away $50 or
even $100 this week.
The good thing with such a goal
is it's (S)pecific, (M)easurable,
(A)chievable, (R)elevant, and
(T)ime specific.
*Once you have set up the goal
put your all into achieving it*.
This means believing in your
ability to succeed and focusing
your sights towards your goal.
What is important is that you
don't ever waiver from this belief
that you can succeed in this
endeavor.
Make sure you know exactly
what it is that you are working
towards.
*And as you finish each goal
your self-confidence will
grow as well*
See where this is leading to?
It's a snowball effect.
The more small goals you finish
the more your self-confidence
will grow.
After that you can start moving
to bigger goals and so on and
so forth.
Two birds with one stone.
Not only will you set and finish
goals, you will also be taking
care of your low self-esteem.
************************************************************
Setting your goals and working
towards achieving them one at
a time gives you the materials
you need to not only build your
self-confidence but also to get
you working towards achieving
them.
Be your own cheerleader and
push yourself that way.
But don't be afraid to look at
others for assistance.
It's proven that when other people
are cheering and pushing you
towards your goal, you get there
faster.
Reach out.
Time to take action and make a
change for yourself.
Low self-esteem can sabotage
your life.
My guide will show you how to
stop that from happening so you
can face the world with confidence.
See how it can help you here.
Boost your self-confidence so you
can accomplish all your goals in life.
To a stronger you,
Amy Twain
