That Person Is Lying But How Can You Tell
Learn body language and you can find out.
See how here.
They may be saying one thing but their body
is saying something else.
********************************************************************
While I may say that you can tell if a person
is lying via their body language let me also
make clear that while body language and
facial expressions are good indicators of
when a person is lying they are not fool-
proof.
What that means that they will only give
you a heads-up that they may not be telling
you everything but it will not really tell you
if they are indeed lying or not.
If only their pants would burst on fire as
suggested by that old nursery rhyme.
But since that can never happen unless
they just happen to spontaneously combust,
which will freak me out should that ever
happen in front of me, spotting a person
who's lying is to recognize it through our
instinct and attention to their body language.
These nonverbal communication cues (I mean
body language) is the way your subconscious
mind speaks.
Since it gives clues to how you truly feel
regardless of what you say, it makes it an
ideal medium for detecting lies.
The eyes, head, voice and hands send out
cues that can help you decipher if someone
is lying or not.
********************************************************************
If the person is lying and knows he or she
is lying then be on the look out for negative
self evaluation gestures.
What are these?
They are usually the uncontrollable or unconscious
touching of the nose or ears.
Silly as it may sound, almost everyone does
it when they're lying and it's often not something
that we even know we're doing.
This is reflexive psychological response to
lying. It's like a feeling of regret that they
are lying and thus are trying to stop it but
can't for one reason or another.
Another thing to look out for is eye contact
or the lack there of as some cases may be.
This is because liars tend to look down when
they are lying. That or they would look at
something else but you.
It's way different from the look of remembering.
In this case it's the look of creating because
they are in the process of creating the lie in
front of you.
Or they may shift their focus away and not
look at you for too long or look at you longer
than is necessary.
This is supported by the hands that are hidden
from you as a subconscious defensive move.
And liars fidget - a lot.
They often shift their feet, sway while talking
and even gesture awkwardly.
And unless they are really professional when
it comes to lying or have the pathological
disorder for it, most people don't like to lie
and are uncomfortable doing so - hence
the body language cues.
Knowing these cues can help you determine
whether someone is lying or not.
