Using Group Brainstorming Techniques To Generate New Ideas

Tags: , ,

2008-10-10More often, the most effective and the best way in discovering a new and great idea is via group discussion. Such group discussions are called brainstorming. So in order to garner the best and practical results from this, you have to make use of some group brainstorming strategies and techniques.

Utilizing some group brainstorming techniques such as keeping an open mind and starting with a subject are great ways to start the ball rolling. 1. Keep an open mind—the creative process is erratic and changeable and it is highly essential that everybody that takes part in a group keep an open mind and not to judge what other participants are bringing or suggesting to the table.

2. Start with a subject or topic. You must have a concept or idea of what you like to achieve during your group discussion session. Make use of your business type as a factor for your subject matter at hand, whether you are discussing about advertising a new product, or enhance and develop an existing one.

Nevertheless, these are not just the only group brainstorming styles and strategies. Other techniques may also include word mapping, using word association, keeping a note board in handy and word drawing. 1. Word association is when participants utilize each other discover or find new words associated with the old ones, like, dark=color, or glass=water etc.

2. Word mapping is also one of the more novel and distinctive group brainstorming strategies. Each and every person will be given an idea or words and then they make use of a big piece of paper and start a network of words related with the original idea or words.

This method is not organized or arranged in any certain way and could lead to numerous and new ideas. 3. Word drawing is not creating or making pictures. It is having every individual in your group or team write a word on a sheet of paper, every individual in the team places their word into a bowl and then everybody draws.

And once they have a word, every person then creates a list of words which is connected with the drawn word. 4. Whenever brainstorming session is called, there must be someone keeping notes on a big writing board of some kind, whether it can be a white board, chalk board or a big hanging pad of paper.

Having all the information ready and accessible would easily enable people to continuously see the all the word cues. Brainstorming is another opportunity for you to build and improve your group brainstorming styles and strategies which are advantageous and favorable to your own situation. Thinking in a creative manner is a significant part of the whole group discussion process and discovering certain processes which work for you is very valuable for your success and is never wrong.

And utilizing those brainstorming techniques could very well lead to creative solutions, new ideas and opportunities and bring a resolution to an old problem. So go find your own techniques and go with the flow.
