Another easy way of injecting and sprinkling creativity during team building activities is by performing some fun group creativity exercises. When thinking about these activities, not only will it allow alliance and network, but it can also test the team members’ artistic skills. Or you can also check if everybody is already comfortable prior to commencing the creativity exercises.
Also, you could examine the mood of the environment—when you take out the team out of their normal meeting location, it can indeed spell the big difference. Just some of the exercises included are laughing, exchanging jokes and other free-flowing spirits you can think of. These activities mentioned will not just aid the entire team get into creative thinking method when faced with actual problems which needs to be resolved and dealt with, but also to maximize the team’s imaginative thoughts.

 But not to forget though, these creativity exercises are intended to be just easy breezy and light, sometimes even to the extent of being silly. Nevertheless, even if they are, they’re still meant to ignite the people’s creative juices and imaginations. Therefore, just bear in mind to recognize when team members are already truly exerting their best trying to come up with their ideas and also, simply let it flow.
So, the next time you and your group mates get together, take time to give these creativity exercises a try! Exercise 1: If you can, try to find some ways or come up with low-cost ways and means of improving product quality or customer satisfaction without having to ask the management’s consent.
Exercise 2: Grab a pen and paper, and in just a span of 60 seconds, list down as many as you can—the several uses of a let’s say, a pencil that you can think of and come up with. A). Jot down each idea—anything that your mind can come up with.
Don’t criticize or judge easily. B). Be ready to change different points of view; be open and be experimental to all sides (how will a child, or somebody uneducated view this?) C). Try asking the “what if” queries; what if it was newer? What if it was newly sharpened? D).
Go for quantity and not quality. Exercise 3: Ask the team members to devise and brainstorm about the ‘true’ story behind the mysterious Mona Lisa smile of the very celebrated masterpiece of Leonardo Da Vinci. Come up with all probable reasons and explanations your mind can conjure. Then, to be more exciting, you could give a reward or a prize for the most believable yet exaggerated story.
And there are still a lot of creativity exercises and thinking styles, tools and resources available on the market to enhance artistic and creative thoughts and not to mention problem solving capacities. Most of the creativity exercises are well-known and commonly used like story boarding, mind mapping, lateral thinking, idea toons, six thinking hats, brain writing and the ever-common brainstorming.
But remember that there’s no such thing as a “cure-all” or “all-in-one” type of tool for each and every process of creative thinking. There are distinct tools for distinct parts or features of creative process.
