Well, it’s time to be proactive and start to motivate yourself.

Here are some tips:

1) Instead of thinking or talking about it, DO it! Turn your to-do lists into to-done list. The best things and goals doesn’t materialize just by thinking or talking about it. Act on it! And don’t think about those things which you can’t do--you don’t want to attract bad vibes.

2) Though it’s always not easy to do, try your best to stay focused on what you should be doing. Concentrate on goal at a time, making them more realistic and attainable. Don’t try to overwhelm yourself with too many tasks in one day.

3) Leave your problems/personal issues at the door. Whatever it is you’re trying to do/ achieve within the day. Stop making excuses on why you can’t--try focusing on what you can do right NOW. You have to do what you can do at the moment.

4) Heard what they say about following your gut feel? Well, grab that confidence in what you believe feels right and follow it. There must be a reason why you feel strongly about something. And more often than not, they always serve for your best purpose.

5) Put in a lot of effort into something you truly want to desire and achieve. Motivate yourself in figuring out how to materialize your dreams into reality. Don’t regret or complain about the hard work that goes with pursuing your dream because in the end, you know it’s going to be worth it.

And speaking of how to motivate yourself, I have a new ebook coming out soon, entitled, "<span style="font-weight: bold;">Goldmine to Success"--watch out for that.

About the author. Take note that we are all created differently, and what works for me may not work out for you. The best advice in staying motivated? Just stick to whatever works for you. No complications--less is more.

Take all advice with a grain of salt and don’t think twice of discarding advice which doesn’t work for you. People can get motivated differently, and for example, about how to go about your tasks during your work days. Remember that gurus are not immuned to their own personal styles on working techniques which also work for them--but may not be working for you.

Like with this example if you should do easy tasks first, or do difficult tasks first?

Just like working out in the gym, some gurus suggest a little "warm up" of doing easy tasks first. Usually in the morning, you can choose tasks which doesn’t really demand a lot of thinking; I know some people who profess that they’re "not a morning person" and they can’t handle "heavy" work early in the morning, since their brains need some warming up before getting into the "main event"--which is the difficult tasks.

On the other hand, there are also experts who suggest finishing on the difficult projects early on within the day, so that you can breathe a sigh of relief soon after, since a large chunk of "burden" is already done. Yes, this may work for some so that it’s going to be a breeze after it’s over.

In the end, there is still no wrong choice and you have to figure out what works best for you when it comes to staying motivated when it comes to your working happiness. Speaking of being motivated, watch out for my upcoming ebook which is about success and motivation, entitled "Goldmine to Success".

About the author. Wed, 20 Jan 2010 09:14:09 +0100 Remember Your Motivations And Move http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/time-to-reevaluate-your-life http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/time-to-reevaluate-your-life
A new year is supposed to be a great way to start afresh. It’s not necessarily a clean slate but it’s clean enough for most people. For a lot of people a new start is enough of a motivation to begin with, so let’s get back to some basics shall we?

First off, what have you been doing with your life in the past year? Did you build your own business? Have you taken a new sport? Did you write that novel you’ve always wanted or that tune you’ve always been thinking of? Whatever it is, it’s time to evaluate the things you’ve been doing. If you haven’t had the right motivation to do those things you’ve wanted to do, why not?

One reason why you haven’t found it is probably because you don’t like what you’re doing. It’s an elementary analysis, but true nonetheless.

You get Intrinsic Motivation when you do something you like. When you do something you like you don’t really think of how hard it is, but you do think of the challenge ahead of you as something fun. It’s pretty powerful stuff, but what if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing?

In situations like that, you should look ahead. Look into the near future or a place that’s farther away, but basically, you should think about a goal you’ll get to once you reach the end of your labors. After hours of working at the office, you could get yourself that new gadget you wanted. After all that dieting and exercise, you can look forward to a fitter healthier you. You can find several ways of rewarding yourself just to get things done. Extrinsic Motivation can work in labors that you enjoy, but it matters the most in times that you feel that you don’t like what you’re doing. Besides, what good is it to keep working at something you don’t enjoy and something you won’t get anything out of? When that happens it’s time to reevaluate your life.

Time for less elementary thoughts on the matter. Motivation will only take you so far, so when you want to accomplish your feat, your job or anything that needs your attention; it needs your patience and dedication. If you’re working on something that takes really long to finish, make a habit out of it and build a routine around it. You don’t have to stick to it forever, but make it something that you can get used to so it’s familiar. When you’re familiar with something it’s just that much easier to do.

Finally, get yourself the appropriate amount of rest and relaxation so you’ll have the energy and motivation to tackle anything ahead of you. The mind is only as strong as the body can carry you. Even if you like what you do, you still get tired. And if you combine the two, you could fool yourself into thinking that you’re doing something tiring and it could lead you to inactivity. Fatigue and boredom are two of your worst enemies. You can get rid of one of them when you eat good food and get good rest. About the author. Wed, 9 Dec 2009 06:54:18 +0100 Questions To Help You On How To Start Your Day Right http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/how-to-start-your-day-right http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/how-to-start-your-day-right Sorry, I woke up at the wrong side of the bed.

That’s the common statement we hear from most people if ever they have a bout with a foul mood and the people around them are at least affected. We all have bad hair days and not-so perfect days, but you don’t want your productivity to be affected just because ’you woke up at the wrong side of the bed.’ Usually, it’s just a matter of conditioning your mind that nothing can spoil your day no matter what.

If you train your mind how to start your day right, then it’s easier to carry out your mornings and it’s all a matter of self awareness. To do this, you can begin with answering questions like:

<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">What am I thankful for in my life today?
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">What could I accomplish this day to improve my life?
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">What makes me feel excited and what do I look forward to this moment?
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">What am I contented at this stage in my life right now?
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">How can I be of help to someone today?
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">What makes me happy in my life right now?

Pondering on these questions and answering them helps you in starting your day right. These questions make you think about your present conditions, your future goals, and all the motivation you need to make you happier. It helps us keep track of our objectives and remain steadfast of our goals instead of merely reacting to whatever circumstances that we encounter and be affected by them.

About the author. Uplift Yourself Now! http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/help-for-depression http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/help-for-depression Depression or simply down with the blues? Whatever you feel at the moment, if you’re down in the dumps, or if it’s really clinical depression (a difficult illness) there’s help for depression and there are simple ways to motivate yourself even at your lowest of lows. 1) Mingle with people; okay, granted that you may choose to be by your lonesome inside your room, you may opt for better things than simply that. It’s healthy to be alone once in a while, but you need other people’s help to talk to you, support you and inspire you especially in times of depression. You need to be exposed to the normalcy around you so that you won’t feel alone in your own world—being directed to your own problem. 2) Try not to be your worst critic. You’re already feeling low; don’t try to rub salt into your wounds by adding to the misery. Accept that you make mistakes because it’s simply part of being human and learn from them. I know that it may take time to get things done, and usually, times like these are not one of them—and be glad that you accept that reality. Sooner or later, you’ll realize that you can move on from that state. 3) Begin a project and be realistic about it. Avoid creating a lengthy to-do list that even you may feel overwhelmed with it. Start with some small positive steps which will gradually bring you to your goal. When you have something to focus your mind on, you now shift your attention to other matters instead of merely zeroing on your problem. But remember that we may have our ‘in the blues’ moments, but maybe it’s not depression yet. Depression is such a serious medical illness which involves the brain and should not be mistaken for just being sad, lonely or just “feeling blue”. About the author. Then Avoid Doing These http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/to-fail-in-life http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/to-fail-in-life Okay, for a change, let me digress a bit. I recently found this article about ways to fail and I can’t resist having my own take on this one. How to fail in life is usually not you might expect from this blog---actually, quite the contrary. Here at Innerzine, we discuss self improvement tips about success, self esteem and motivation. You want success? Then be sure to be aware of these ways to fail and avoid doing these: 1) You don’t know why you really want success. Okay, so granted that you’re trying to reach a certain goal. But for what---what is your rationale behind your goals? If you lack the compelling raison d’être to back up your goals, where can you find the underlying motivation to conquer challenges? See what I mean—that’s the reason why most goals fail to materialize; halfway the journey, most people surrender coz they can’t see the significance of their dreams. 2) Blending with the losers. There’s something about their attitude that will tell you that whatever you aim for or pursue, it’s not gonna work, or something’s wrong about this and that, or whatever hindrances that obstructs you from going after your dreams. So as much as possible, try to veer away from them so that you won’t attract bad vibes, or worse, be like one of them! 3) Taking heed from the wrong advisors. If you’re going to get advice, then go get a good one! Stop listening to the wrong people coz you may end up with the wrong direction. Confucius said, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”; to fail in life is most people’s nightmare, but if we knew how to avoid those ways to fail, then we can always stand up and move forward to our goals. Wed, 5 Aug 2009 05:56:32 +0200 Taking Your Self Improvement Quest To The Next Level http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/self-improvement-motivation http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/self-improvement-motivation My friend Brian Maxwell recently furnished me with a copy of one of his great books entitled, “Taking It To The Next Level”. In this gem of a book, author Brian Maxwell is your captain to your self help and self improvement voyage to find your way to your success and personal development. This book carries with it a lot of self improvement motivation insights especially with its 12-step process “for personal development”. More interesting to note, is that this book is a drastic departure from the typical self improvement programs you may encounter since it concentrates not on the “How” questions but rather on the “Why” questions. As you take off on your journey, you’ll learn more about the power of your attitude. In that section, you’ll learn that “human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” Section 2 of this wonderful book tells us that anything is possible. This is self improvement motivation at its best because this tells about our goals and the belief (not just the feeling) that a dream can come true. When we want something so bad like our goals, instead of aiming for something generic, like happiness, productivity, business, personal money, good health, longevity, etc., we have to be very specific about what we really want. We must start to bear in mind that “establishing a clearly defined goal is one of the most important steps we can possibly take.” Section 3 of the book is about the miracle mind that we posses. Within our miracle mind we have the intellectual factors that comprise it. These are: our reason—which is our ability to think, our will—which is our ability to focus, our perception—our own standpoint, our memory, our imagination—which is our capacity to create pictures, our intuition/ sixth sense—which translates vibration. See, you’ll realize that this book indeed will take us to the next level. And that’s only with Section 3 of his self improvement book. Now, we have Section 4 which is about creating your destiny. Brian digs more about the 7 Laws of the Universe, but the principal law is the Law of Cause and Effect. And oh, before I forget, after every section, there’s this Coaching Action Information Sheet that asks you certain questions you need to answer; sort of a review of what you learned and wisdom you gained in that chapter. All in all, there’s 12 Sections for you to gain motivation regarding your quest for self improvement to success and personal development. About the author. Tue, 7 Jul 2009 05:00:20 +0200 Breaking Bad Habits Like Nail Biting And Cursing Once And For All http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/breaking-bad-habits http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/breaking-bad-habits “I will form good habits and become their slaves”. Thus said from the Scroll 1 of the hugely popular book from Og Mandino which is one of my favorite books of all time. Indeed, to commit ourselves to something, we have to start breaking bad habits and develop new ones. I read somewhere that as adults, we tend to become slaves to our habits. As human as we are, we have bad habits that we want to let go of and there are also tons of ways how to break them. Okay, for one, how about cursing? Are you guilty of this bad habit? Well, most of us are--cursing may actually begin at a very early age. It can actually start from home, when the child becomes exposed to cussing and swearing most of the time. But now as an adult, you want to be a better you, so what do you do? First, you got to pay attention. Whenever you utter those indecent and scandalous words, drop some money inside a jar. Even if you need it for your cigarette, just place money in there. This will instill in your mind that each time you do bad habits, it will cost you money. If you thought you practically tried everything, from replacing less offensive words, having a “swear jar” to counseling, I recommend this painful alternative only as a last resort. Note: This one is not recommended for kids or teenagers; only responsible adults could take this sort of conditioning. This can be likened to Pavlov’s classical conditioning so that his dogs can work. Place a rubber band on your wrist and each time you curse, snap it. Just don’t snap it so hard that it marks—just do it hard enough till you learn and get the point. And how about nail biting? If you think only kids are guilty of this, think again. Even famous adult personalities admits to bite their nails. Even CNN’s Anderson Cooper is one of them. Maybe some people do it whenever they feel fidgety or nervous. Whatever your reasons are, when you bite your nails, it’s not a hygienic practice, remember that. Just think of all those dirt coming into contact with your mouth. Plus, it injures your nails and fingertips. But you just want to say goodbye to your bad habits, and nail biting is one of them. What to do? You can keep your nails short and polished. When you look at your well-groomed and trimmed nails, what a shame it would be just to chew them off, don’t you think? And try to take your manicure to a higher level, like try going to a professional manicurist to prettify your tips. Then, remind yourself that you’re literally chewing $20 off your precious finger. I’m sure you don’t want to waste your money just to satisfy your bad habits; your job is to fight your bad habits and not to be enslaved by them. About the author. Wed, 3 Jun 2009 04:28:43 +0200 What Drives You To Stay Motivated? http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/how-do-you-stay-motivated http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/how-do-you-stay-motivated “What drives you”—so goes a famous tagline of Caltex. Yes, indeed, have you ever asked that question yourself? In other words, how do you stay motivated? But first and foremost, identify what are the things that keep you going or the things that personally bring you happiness, or at least help you attain happiness. Could it be professional success, a sense of achievement, financial independence, the freedom to be different, or to backpack and travel everywhere? You have your own reasons for pursuing those personal wants and aspirations to stay motivated. Try to do more of those things you like and less of those things you dislike. In reality, when you really like what you’re doing, you’ll be more improved at what you’re doing, since you’re more willing to do it. So you stay motivated because you want to, and not because you’re being forced into something. Another tip to stay motivated is to constantly challenge yourself. When you establish a personal challenge to yourself, life becomes more exciting, for you have a reason to wake up everyday, to welcome a brand new day with a bright smile. Try to be gutsy to do anything once or anything new for your life. It can be as simple as deciding to help a friend designing a website, smile to a stranger, to more complex as cracking (or just trying) the Rubik’s Cube, travel alone, or trying rock climbing to test your fear of heights. Break free from the ordinary and see beyond what you thought was impossible for you to attain. When you arrive at your workplace, set a nice working atmosphere to encourage productivity and efficiency. Try to set a clean and comfy environment so that you’ll enjoy every moment of your working hours. A relaxing and comfortable work space contributes to a healthy mind ready for working. If you want to stay motivated, you should also never lose sight of your dream and keep visualizing your successes and triumphs, no matter how small they may seem. Don’t define success as what other people perceive it to be, but rather view your success as what it looks like from your own point of view. In short, don’t compare other people’s accomplishments to your own. Lastly, celebrate your achievements and progress you’ve made as you go through your journey. Reward yourself and let others know about it by treating a friend or your colleagues to dinner to commemorate your triumph and your upcoming successes in the future. About the author. Fri, 8 May 2009 10:45:47 +0200 Get What You Want And Have It Like You’ve Always Wanted http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/get-what-you-want-in-life http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/get-what-you-want-in-life On your part, you really wanted to get what you want and there are also some people that could really get what they like while others can’t although they have the same level of desire. They have the same longing but why what had happened to them is not similar? For example, you wanted to be a star like your friend also wants it but you were the only one who was given a break to be as such. As what you have remembered, you joined many acting contests and has not even won any of them and enrolled yourself in an acting workshop just to get what you want but your friend refuses to do any. You seem pathetic as what your friend views you and by simply looking at what you’re doing make her feel tired but you still continue to do it again and again. On the other hand, your friend also join in some acting workshop only if it’s free and assumes that someday she’ll be a star without doing anything. She doesn’t dream to be like you who have done almost everything but didn’t achieve any. Basing from your struggle, it made her think that it’s just a waste of time to make some effort like what you did. But she was stunned seeing you on TV in one of the contests you have joined and was declared as the winner. One of the benefits of the prize is to have a short appearance in a famous TV series which is a big chance for you to be a star even just for once. That’s already your ticket to fame. You now get what you want in life. Both of you have the same aspiration but the outcome is different. It never entered her mind that it will happen to you for she underestimates your capacity because at the beginning of your struggle, you almost failed. Now, she looks at you differently and she now feels inspired by your guts. You get what you want while she didn’t. The difference lies in the attitude; you make some effort to achieve your target. Even if you have stumbled, you are still able to manage. You worked harder to get what you want which is the simple secret to attract happiness and success. Your burning desire to achieve something is the one that motivated you to be what you wanted to be. The inner force is just within you. In general, to get what you want is to work for it. Give all your focus on it passionately for it really requires hard work on getting something. About the author. Wed, 18 Mar 2009 06:26:52 +0100 Self Discipline: Unlocking The Doors To Success http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/learning-self-discipline http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/learning-self-discipline Everyone wants to know the keys to unlocking the doors to success and how to master its various principles. As for me, it’s all about self discipline. Yes, learning self discipline, that is. Self discipline can be a tough thing to accentuate here, as I can observe the lack of self discipline on others. Whereas if practiced religiously, being disciplined can produce fantastic results. Okay, this is what I mean by that: Think about the person who can be the highly intellectual type, very optimistic, friendly and funny and seems to be the kind which many people want to hang around with. Well, you may know somebody who can be happy and exceedingly doing well yet for some any reason, they still keep on getting by but with great difficulty—in other words, they’re still under pressure. And if you observe that individual watchfully, the primary source can always be the lack of self discipline. It can be in the areas of their attitudes; how they manage their time or how focused they are in their goals. It can also be how they communicate or how motivated they could be, or perhaps all the above. Whatever their underlying grounds could be, the issue of self discipline is the most frequently common denominator in the lives of successful people. On the other side of the fence, however, consider the individual who “got it”. Yes, you know that guy who time and again, excels at almost everything and exceeds everyone’s expectations, yet he still got the time and energy to play as the lead guitarist in his own band and still has enough quality time with his kids playing video games. Or, you may envy that neighbor of yours who recently became the employee of the month, running a part-time home-based business and still loves to hang out with her close pals from high school. Now, you are taking into account your own expectations, goals and life in general. So whomever the person you want to look up to and which stories you want to be inspired, you would notice that these individuals lead a focused, decisive, determined and most importantly, they are very disciplined human beings. They are firm about setting their goals and are very determined to attain them. They’re also very much disciplined when it comes to handling and managing their time. And of course, they have the right attitude when it comes to their behaviors and habits. They are less likely to procrastinate because they respect the value of time, not just for their own sake but also of other people’s. Therefore, you’ll see that when it comes to work, that person really works. And when they’re done, they can play/party/have a vacation to their heart’s desire since they’re already free and their mind is refreshed, devoid of work-related stress and pressure. In the end, it’s really up to you how you lead your life. Just stay focused, determined and be decisive in whatever you want to achieve in life. Self discipline is also not letting those petty little things get in your way. Thus, stay focused on your goals and get them. About the author. Tue, 23 Dec 2008 02:16:40 +0100 Why Team Motivation Must Be A Staple In Every Organization http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/team-motivation http://www.innerzine.com/motivation/team-motivation You may agree if i say that based on our own countless experiences (and of course, research) tell us that team motivation boosts employee productivity regardless what kind of business or company one manages or handles. Team motivation is a very essential or vital skill a manager or leader must possess. It stimulates and motivates employees or staff and also yourself to do more and achieve more when it comes to working, thus it enhances productivity to its maximum. And what are the ways in which team motivation can foster productivity? 1.Well, for one, the working environment itself can be an effective and awesome work enhancer and motivator. This aspect encompasses the team the employees perform or operate within and it in fact affects the general feel and culture of the entire workplace. Some simple things or freebies such as free coffee for example, make it all a great difference. So you see, decent, clean and neat ambiance contributes to inspiring and motivating the work force to work and perform well, not to mention to feel at ease and comfortable, making their workplace their second home. 2. Achievement or accomplishment at work—employees who set their sights and ultimately accomplishes their goals and targets which is directed by their heads or bosses are typically motivated by work. They show up and report to work the next day and thereafter to make, pursue and attain their next accomplishment milestone. 3. Employees who do not get promoted in their work (in spite of being in the company for so long) lose that energized spirit of team motivation. And that’s why self growth is such a favorable work-associated motivator. A good measure for a professional self growth at the workplace is the job title, salary increase, bonuses or benefits, the responsibilities and authority designated or given to heighten and develop the staff’s self growth and self esteem at the same time. 4. Recognition—even a very simple or common ‘thank you’ is greatly appreciated. Giving praises or compliments (loud enough to be heard or to be known) is a fantastic team motivation that doesn’t even cost a single penny. These kinds of motivation are the kinds that subordinates like a lot since it’s so easy to deliver yet somehow, quite rare to receive (depending on your supervisors’ personality, that is). The staff who complies and accomplishes their manager’s instructed tasks and goals and work and render long hours to attain them of course, expect to be recognized and acknowledged. They will more or less expect some bonus, job promotion or a well deserved salary increase. And not giving what is due to them greatly reduces team motivation or their sense of worth. But more importantly, never ever try to steal or take the credit of your staff! Therefore, how you motivate your staff greatly relies on your understanding of the needs of your staff and the goals of your company you supervise. So that’s why the presence of team motivation is needed to maintain the staff and enhance productivity. About the author.
