And this is true especially with your colleagues at work. That said, <a target="_blank" title="Don’t Quit Your Job" href="http://thehappyworker.com/">how do you improve your working relationships?

1) Be a blessing and acknowledge your co-workers. Don’t simply pretend--listen when they talk to you and give them your full attention. You don’t have to force yourself to talk to them regularly, but try to be positive when interacting with them. There are times when a colleague is having a bad day, and even a mere smile or compliment can help a terrible day bearable.

2) Your working relationships are important, so respect your colleagues’ working space. Respect your co-workers’ need for space since you all have your own specific deadlines and pressures. Be mindful of your colleagues’ need to concentrate, especially if you have to interrupt them--and make it brief.

Also, minimize being too loud, as noise can distract others. Take note that everyone in the workplace got their own working styles according to their preferences and comfort level. Respect others as much as you want others to respect you also for better working relationships.

3) Do your job as best as you can. That’s why you’re paid--to do your job as best as you can, so don’t look for an easy way out, especially asking a workmate to do a part of your task; it would be unfair. Your boss expects you to carry out your duties and responsibilities, so don’t try to take advantage of your officemates just so that you can sit pretty in your desk all day long. Be fair enough to do your own share of responsibility.

4) Help out and give some appreciation. You can also be considerate and offer to help your workmates if you sense that they need some assistance in their tasks (especially when you have new hires in your organization). Be patient enough with them and remember that you perform various tasks and not everyone have your expertise and vice versa. Also, show some appreciation if you see that a co-worker is improving--it helps to improve working relationships and boost employee morale.

About the author. Fri, 26 Feb 2010 04:50:31 +0100 Prepare Your Resume And Ace That Interview! http://www.innerzine.com/success/prepare-your-resume http://www.innerzine.com/success/prepare-your-resume In job interviews, you have to be prepared, for you are not the only one on the hot seat; the interviewer on his part may also have some reservations on his own about hiring new employees. As an interviewee, you may always get nervous like it’s the first time. (despite how many interviews you’ve had) But did you know that job interviewers may also feel the same? Well, not in the same way of feeling nervous like you, but in the amount of responsibility that entails; the interviewer may feel there’s a heavy pressure on his shoulders choosing <a target="_blank" title="Don’t Quit Your Job!" href="http://thehappyworker.com/">the right person for the job. After all, they don’t want to make the wrong decision, right?

That’s why YOU--as the interviewee, you got to make him/her feel that you’re the right man for the job. Pay close attention to your resume before you hand it in. Take note that the interviewer is basing a lot on your resume before he even saw you in person for the interview. Your resume is the first prospective connection between you and the employer. Your resume is also something she holds on to, assessing early on if you’re a competent candidate qualified enough for an interview.

When you prepare your resume, makes sure it is something which tells the manager, "I’m the person you’re looking for" or something to that effect.

Okay, so what happens if your resume does not enlist the experiences that the company is looking for? You can always offset by citing specific examples of your strengths and/or contributions you’ve done to your company. You can indicate in your cover letter which begins with positive phrases like, "I’m at my best when... then continue with describing a specific situation wherein you
used your strengths to the max, and how the company can make the most of these strengths, so that you’ll definitely be an asset and what you can contribute to the company is highly valued.

When you’re called for an interview, be prepared to cite 3 concrete examples of how you utilized these strengths and how you know it would help. About the author. Tue, 23 Feb 2010 04:26:51 +0100 How To Keep Your Job No Matter What http://www.innerzine.com/success/keep-your-job http://www.innerzine.com/success/keep-your-job These days of dwindling economy, what’s even tougher than not landing your dream job, is not having a job at all. The good news is-- yes, <a target="_blank" title="Don’t Be Another Unemployment Statistic!" href="http://thehappyworker.com/">you can keep your job--even in a bad economy.

One best strategy is to be an irreplaceable employee at work. This means that be the person your company can’t live without. So, take on any kind of responsibility, don’t wait to be asked and most importantly, in this day and age of downsizing, keeping your job means not sticking out your "that’s-not-part-of-my-work" attitude.

Be the indispensable, go-to guy who knows what to do who willingly accepts tasks without being told. Make them feel that you have what it takes to stay on the company, that you know a lot about the organization, your products, your clients/customers. Try your best that your manager can’t replace you for the same or less money.

However, this doesn’t mean that you get to keep some crucial information to yourself alone. What I mean is, you got to acquire some skills which no one else has. You can be one step ahead of your colleagues if you know that their strengths and weaknesses, and if they need assistance with this and that. Now you can base your knowledge to back up your ideas and decisions. Also, with your knowledge, you can even train your fellow workers--that makes you even more needed.

Keeping your job may also mean doing some extra (yet significant) work like proofreading communication stuff like memos, fixing computers, fax machines, or copiers.

So, isn’t this another reason why you should start fixing stuff and acquiring
technical skills already? About the author. Mon, 15 Feb 2010 06:56:05 +0100 Take The Initiative And Ask For Feedback From Your Boss http://www.innerzine.com/success/asking-for-feedback http://www.innerzine.com/success/asking-for-feedback As an employee, you can always ask for feedback frequently. When it comes to your career, sometimes it takes some initiative to gain leverage. How many of you made the mistake of thinking, "I don’t know how I’m exactly doing since my boss/supervisor never gives me feedback"? Oh come on, you know that you exactly know how you are doing in the workplace. If you feel strongly positively about your work performance, then naturally, you just want to hear him recognize and acknowledge your performance. However, if you
don’t feel at all positive about your job, then think about improving your performance and giving your best contribution to the organization.

Still, ask your boss for it. It shows your concern for your work. And of course, tell your boss also that you sincerely like to hear about his evaluation of how well you’re doing in your work. If you do this, the boss may even be impressed with this initiative and will be more than willing to give you time in assessing you.

If you’re in a service industry, you can even ask for feedback from your clients or customers. Ask them how you’re faring in how you serve them, in your business as a whole, etc.; more so if you’re just new in your business. Whatever their feedback is, you can trust that it’s reliable and affirming. If their response is negative, then ask them in what areas you can improve more and if they can give some suggestions and comments.

Asking for feedback is actually very helpful for the development of your career and business.

About the author. The discerning factors characterized by most successful people are often acknowledged as directly relative to their intelligence. Intelligence for the most part is relative; although there are some successful people did not even have proper education nor were they degree holders.

Some notably successful individuals might be considered as having unconventional kind of intelligence. The cruel reality of life and its idiosyncrasies has affected these people in a number of tumultuous ways that would leave most people depressed and devastated. Yet amidst such constraints they have toppled the stigma of academic excellence as the main proponent of success in life. An inspiring Rags to riches story is depicted in the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” which is the real life story of Christopher Gardner. Immortalized by Will Smith on the big screen, the portrayal of how a down on his luck homeless man coping with the loss of his wife. With an intrepid determination to make it big in the realm of the stock brokers coupled with an immense grief counseling technique to persevere. It all begins with a spark of ambition and a burning passion for self improvement and follow through onward to the ultimate goal of personal success.

Success is also relative; it varies from each individual the main distinction on how to measure success in life is not absolute. It could be achievements at school, work or financial. Keep in mind regardless of how trivial it may seem to other, if you persevered and worked hard to achieve it the satisfaction and euphoric splendor that one might feel is gratification enough. Most of the time commendations, awards and cash incentives might be something to look forward and are often the motivation for tackling on tasks that are seemingly daunting or nearly impossible. That kind of mentally can often lead to some serious aggravated risks that outweigh the rewards; people often resort to cheating or unorthodox methods just to accomplish the task at hand. The challenge and prestige of accomplishing should be the main proponent for us to push forth and begin a journey of continually improving ourselves to become better and further develop on what you have started.

Your rags to riches story will slowly unfold but everyone has to start somewhere. Mon, 21 Sep 2009 07:36:20 +0200 It’s Time To Develop Your Action Habit http://www.innerzine.com/success/how-to-change-habits http://www.innerzine.com/success/how-to-change-habits You can easily notice those people who are successful and remain at the top of their game—they possess the action habit. Yes, you may have the idea, the talent and the connections, but what good are those if you don’t take action to let your goals materialize? How to change habits is not as easy and simple as it seems, but if you want to excel in your field and if you want to see results, incorporate the action habit to be a wild success and here’s how: 1) Remember the Nike adage---“just do it!” Yes, instead of dreaming about your goals, why not do it? Practice them. Do you want to begin a healthy lifestyle by going to the gym? Want to say “I’m sorry” to a friend? Then do it now—develop your action habit. In connection with this, 2) Live in the present tense. Stop regretting about what you could have done better last week, or begin worrying about the unforeseeable future. If you ponder too much about the past or future, then you’ll never get anything done and you’re wasting your time and energy on the things you have no control of. 3) Don’t wait for the perfect circumstances to make things happen. Well, if you wait for the “perfect moment” to arise, chances are, it’s not gonna happen. And you know why--- it’s because the timing may be off, too much competition, something’s quite not right, or any other reasons which deter you from taking action. In reality, there’s no perfect time to start something. Begin your action habit and just remember to deal with difficulties when and if they come to pass. Your ideas may be significant, but it can only be useful once it will be enforced. About the author. Fri, 7 Aug 2009 10:53:32 +0200 Learn The Top Networking Strategies Right From The Experts http://www.innerzine.com/success/effective-networking-strategies http://www.innerzine.com/success/effective-networking-strategies I happened to listen to a teleseminar of my friend Ryan Jeffrey when he interviewed networking expert and millionaire real estate investor Tim Lewis. Entitled, How to Build Your Personal Wealth and Success Team, I learned a lot about various networking strategies and wealth building. One prerequisite of building network leadership are your commitment to others and that you’re truly passionate about it. When it comes to this industry, it’s not just about how to earn money like fast easy money, but it’s about building a team—bonded with a common purpose. Tim Lewis always advised the would-be entrepreneurs out there to be passionate about what you’re doing; you got to love what you do. There must be an underlying motivation inside you (aside from those self help books) that makes you believe in something; you got to believe in the industry and in the integrity of the business you’re into. What he means by this is that everything has to be legal, since you don’t want to involve other people just to apologize later on. Some of the most effective networking strategies are: to bear in mind that people want to feel better and want more money (it’s a fact of life), and to contact more people and relay opportunities and focus on them to get what they want and not about you. Networking strategies is more about supporting others and being there for them. That’s why you have to reach out to other people and this business is not like, “every man for himself” Together, you generate more wealth when leaders provide the things that people can utilize, using their talent and creativity. Aside from the networking strategies, this teleseminar also tackles about some of the roadblocks in this business. And these are: fear, doubt, and lack of education in this field. When you decide to go ahead in this kind of business and in leading a topnotch team, and creating abundance and prosperity, some networking strategies and tips from Tim Lewis: “Don’t let school get you in the way of your education.” Though, quite ironic or funnily said, it simply means that you got to go outside and find some sources—and be street-savvy. You know, making friends and consulting others how they did it—how they make more money. That’s all part of networking strategies. Aside from that, he also relays to us not to let other people’s situation rob you of the joy in your heart. About the author. Wed, 15 Jul 2009 09:49:14 +0200 From Zero To Hero: The Rags To Riches Story Of Chris Gardner http://www.innerzine.com/success/rags-to-riches-stories http://www.innerzine.com/success/rags-to-riches-stories There are many rags to riches stories out there, and Chris Gardner’s is one of them. If it wasn’t for the movie The Pursuit of Happyness, (which is based on his book of memoirs of the same title) I wouldn’t have a clue who this person is. I watched that movie with an open mind that and Chris was aptly portrayed by Will Smith. Many stories about rags to riches we know and they consist of mainly ups and downs and this story is not an exception. He struggled with homelessness; his father abandoned him when he was a child and though his mother remarried, his stepfather made their lives a miserable hell. Obviously, during his early years, he lacked some positive male role models. Like most rags to riches tales, there’s always a hope, a motivation that somewhere in the midst of his struggling and wretched life, he has that indomitable spirit lurking within, telling him not to give up cause where there’s life, there’s endless possibilities. I’ll never forget that scene wherein he was working as a medical supplies salesman and then a parked red (hot) Ferrari caught his eye. He went up to the man driving it and asked, “What do you do and how do you do it?” The man answered that he’s a stock broker. That was the starting point of his rags to riches story—that’s all he needed to know and his child is his inspiration (his wife left him at this point) and he wanted a good life for his son. Now, he wanted to be a stock broker too. Father and son, now homeless, slept wherever they can (including a subway station and a bathroom). But this rags to riches zero to hero never wavered in his faith to secure a better future, in his homeless state, still studied for a licensing exam in which he passed successfully. Though they’re struggling alright, but they had more hope than ever before and success is almost within reach that Chris can feel it before it actually happened. In the long run, Gardner was recruited by Bear Stearns & Company in San Francisco. He worked hard each day and his efforts, hard work and perseverance paid off when their situation started to get better. Eventually, he started earning more and he and his son were able to find their own home. Ultimately, Chris Gardner became the CEO of his own firm, Gardner Rich & Co. based in Chicago. His rags to riches story is an inspiration to all as he is a self-made millionaire, motivational speaker, philanthropist and entrepreneur. About the author. Tue, 9 Jun 2009 05:45:54 +0200 Unlock The Secrets Of Highly Successful People http://www.innerzine.com/success/highly-successful-people http://www.innerzine.com/success/highly-successful-people We all have heard of successful people and how they overcome many obstacles just to arrive where they are right now. Of course, we all aspire to be successful, but the road that leads to triumph is not paved with a bed of roses and sacrifices must be made. That’s why here now are the different characteristics of some of the highly successful people I know. 1. Successful people are gutsy. They know that you don’t want to play it safe if you want to succeed in life, but you got to take some calculated risks as well. They have the pluck to try and take on anything new for you’ll never know till you try. 2. Dedicated and committed—if you want to attain success, you got to commit yourself wholeheartedly to your passion. If you’re dedicated in attaining what you want in life, it gives you that drive, the “fire in the belly” to pursue your mission. 3. Give them attitude—successful people are also decisive. If you got the attitude of a winner, chances are, it won’t take long for you to emerge as a winner. But what good is an attitude, if you don’t make that step forward? In this case, to decide to be a winner? Successful people decide to make things happen. They create action; they just don’t sit there on the sidelines waiting or hoping that they become successful. They proactively take charge of their life—and their destiny. 4. You’ve heard of the phrase “go with the flow”. Winning people do just that. They’re simply adaptable to whatever circumstances that may arise and they’re able to adjust and bend if the situation calls for it. 5. Not just all work-- as they say, all work and no play makes Joe a dull boy. So, not all successful people totally devote their time working and working alone. There’s got to be some balance between personal and professional lives. Leading a well-balanced lifestyle not only let you live certain parts of your life, but the whole of it. 6. Patience is their virtue. They understand that Rome wasn’t built on a day and success comes to those who wait. Plus, they’re also determined and relentless. They don’t easily give up and they know if they’re faced with some adversity or obstacles to their goals, they’re merely challenges not to surrender, but to stick it out till the end. In time, they know they’ll get there—it’s just a matter of time. About the author. Amy Twain is a successful Self Improvement Coach who has been helping and coaching individuals for many years. Mon, 18 May 2009 10:19:35 +0200 Fight With Your Pain To Overcome Life’s Disappointments http://www.innerzine.com/success/how-to-overcome http://www.innerzine.com/success/how-to-overcome To the optimist, life is beautiful. To the pessimist, life is never beautiful but to the realistic person, life is sometimes good and is not always beautiful. You cannot tell what situation you will be in everyday. There are instances that you will be facing unwanted situations that you are not expecting to happen. Of course, you want to know how to overcome this since it is most likely to hinder your growth towards success. The key point here is your interest. Your drive to have your passion is the fuel that motivates you to achieve your goal. This is the main thing that will help you overcome the hindrances in attaining your desire. Focus on the good things that has happened to you since dwelling on the things that pulled you down will just affect your mind in hitting your target. This will just dampen your spirit that might affect your performance. It’s a baggage that adds to your burden that slows you down. These baggage are your worries, fears and negative thinking that doesn’t help you any. We cannot avoid feeling this emotion since this is automatic in us but we can direct our emotion to overcome this for our own benefit. We cannot do that in a snap but we can learn it as we continue applying that until we become used to it. If we try to look at it, it’s our anticipation which creates this web of emotions. Our very own expectation is the one that triggers this kind of feelings. We can’t control things to happen which gives us frustrations when it doesn’t go our way. We have no choice but to accept the hard fact that we don’t have the power over it. This goes to people who have suffered so much pain in their lives but still managed to overcome the difficulties and is able to succeed. They didn’t allow this to stop them from the possibility of having their flight of fancy. No matter how bad the situation is, you are still the one who can direct what will gonna happen in your life. You cannot stop life from moving forward but life cannot stop you on what you want to do. So it means you can be successful if you really want to even in your worst situation. It doesn’t depend from the situation, but from you. Success comes to those who are struggling for it, not to those who just wait. Overcome your fears for they prevent you from discovering new things that might be a door to success. About the author.
