Before anything else, consider this short scenario about goal setting. I’m sure this sounds familiar or have you experienced any similar situation like this? Let’s say for example you thought of a cool idea (usually you have those ‘Aha’ or ‘Eureka’ moments and no need for any goal setting software) for a new product and you can’t wait to sell it to the market.
You’re simply too confident and positive that your product will be saleable and attract customers. You’re just way too excited that you blab it to your friends. However, one friend of yours commented that this product of yours will only be a waste of time and especially a waste of money.

And you know that he’s no insecure folk, mind you. You knew that he has your best interests at heart. And he has a reason to back up his not so favorable comment. He says that if your product would be such a (huge) success in the market, then how come no one else has done it in the past, or doing it now? Hmmmm…sounds familiar and practical maybe? So how do you go about in your goal setting this time? You know your friend has a point (and a logical one at that), so you decide to let go of your idea just so because you were convinced by your friend.
Have you realized that this scenario happens all the time all over the world? How many goals and dreams remained unrealized and unfulfilled because of so many ‘buts’ and ‘what ifs’? So, I tell you not to fall prey for this mindset. You got to have your own goals to achieve.
Bear in mind when it comes to goal setting, what happened to another person/s in the past or right now, has got nothing to do with you. You are your own person with a distinct set of beliefs, values and opinions. Moral lesson of the story—although it’s good to hear other people’s opinions and point of view, in the end, what truly matters most are the snippets of wisdom or infos you received, but you got to stay firm when you set your goals.
Be steadfast with your beliefs and though as cliché as it may sounds, stay true to your heart and throw caution to the wind---the most important thing here is you tried. Who knows what the outcome of this goal setting might be?
