 Numerous leaders and managers know that there are great beenfits and advantages to be gained from empowering other people. As a manager or leader, you could choose to either utilize your power and authority to empower others or disempower other individuals. Now, which would you think will bring the best and greatest benefit in attaining favorable results? There are several benefits and advantages of empowering other people and these include: 1.
Motivation--when you begin empowering someone, you are actually saying to them that you believe in their abilities and you entrust something to them to perform well and deliver. When a leader or manager tells you the result of what they want and leaves it to you in finding out the most effective and the best way to accomplish, chances are your motivation increases.

2. Performance—empowering is a great way to enhance or improve performance. Changes in performance occur more quickly when individuals start doing and gets into action. You have heard of the overused adage that practice makes perfect. Another way of looking at it is in saying that when you begin to empower someone, it improves their performance.
3. Building loyalty—when you get the reputation as a leader or manager, that gives your people the opportunity to grow and develop, so the staff become incredibly loyal. They know that you have the trust and confidence in them and will go that extra mile when things get rough and tough.
4. Learning and development—when things don’t work out as what we expected, we take time to think and seriously consider what we will do differently or change next time. Ask some of the most successful people when they really learned the most and they are most likely to tell you about those times when events did not work out or happen as they expected.
We learn when we do things the right way. Yet in reality, we learn more when some things don’t seem to work out they way we expect them. When you empower others, you take the risk and let other people to learn and develop from doing a certain project or task.
5. Energizing other individuals—have you ever been part of an organization or team where people are totally upbeat, enthusiastic and energized? If so, you were probably part of a team that is empowering people and gets out of the way. When individuals are more energized, they discover and explore new ways of breaking down what might have been perceived as mere hindrances in the past.
6. Succession planning—leaders and managers are ambitious and want to keep climbing the corporate ladder. Most leaders and managers want to ensure that when the time comes for them to move on to a higher level, there is a suitable batch of persons prepared to step into their position. Empowering other individuals is one way to make certain this is the case.
7. Achieving results—empowering others and leveraging the full range of knowledge, skills, personal attributes and experience at your disposal contributes in attaining results. 8. Retention and recruitment—attracting and retaining good people may pose as a challenge for most companies. So, if you’re known as a manager who empowers others, you would begin to attract the best and they will stay with you longer.
