Calling all women leaders! Being a leader in your organization has just got to be one of the most rewarding but also challenging decisions you could undertake in your career. Aside from the fact that you’re generating a big impact in your professional life, you’re also making a difference by influencing many people’s lives and the direction of your business.
That’s why today’s article can also be a guide to women leaders in the corporate world. 1. Image is everything—so dress appropriately. The way you present yourself matters a lot so make sure to dress tastefully. Choose clothing that will make people respect you and won’t draw attention to your sexuality.

Women leaders must remember that it’s more essential to be respected than to be liked. Sometimes, you also have to make certain decisions that not everyone in your organization will like or even agree to, but you have to be firm with your decision; be ready for that. 2. Okay, not just for men, but also for women leaders as well.
Build solid networks both within and outside your organizations. It’s that hackneyed phrase that says, “It’s not what you know, but who you know”. Of course, it’s important that you got to have the know-how and professional savvy to be a great leader but you also have to take your networking skills to a higher level since, strictly speaking, you’re also on a higher level.
Creating and increasing allies are very crucial when you move to higher echelons in the company; individuals with vast chain of networks can easily gain access and obtain updated and helpful infos to aid them in attaining their targets. Determine who are those two to three individuals whom you need to cultivate a stronger bond with.
At upper levels, work is performed by more and more people, so it’s good to efficiently handle your communication with them. 3. Women leaders can also ask for additional assignments. You can indicate your interest to take on some other assignments by pitching your ‘credentials’ or readiness to accept more responsibilities.
For example, you could volunteer to speak on a conference or a program, or even go to your company social gatherings and try to mingle with new faces; it can even boost your confidence. And last but not the least, women leaders should at least master their emotions, for the ability to manage unavoidable workplace conflict is yet another significant part of success.
For instance, if you realize that it’s nothing personal, then you’d be able to select your styles and strategies differently to oversee the path of your career success.
