Depression or simply down with the blues? Whatever you feel at the moment, if you’re down in the dumps, or if it's really clinical depression (a difficult illness) there’s help for depression and there are simple ways to motivate yourself even at your lowest of lows. 1) Mingle with people; okay, granted that you may choose to be by your lonesome inside your room, you may opt for better things than simply that.
It’s healthy to be alone once in a while, but you need other people’s help to talk to you, support you and inspire you especially in times of depression. You need to be exposed to the normalcy around you so that you won’t feel alone in your own world—being directed to your own problem.

 2) Try not to be your worst critic. You’re already feeling low; don’t try to rub salt into your wounds by adding to the misery. Accept that you make mistakes because it’s simply part of being human and learn from them. I know that it may take time to get things done, and usually, times like these are not one of them—and be glad that you accept that reality.
Sooner or later, you’ll realize that you can move on from that state. 3) Begin a project and be realistic about it. Avoid creating a lengthy to-do list that even you may feel overwhelmed with it. Start with some small positive steps which will gradually bring you to your goal.
When you have something to focus your mind on, you now shift your attention to other matters instead of merely zeroing on your problem. But remember that we may have our ‘in the blues’ moments, but maybe it’s not depression yet. Depression is such a serious medical illness which involves the brain and should not be mistaken for just being sad, lonely or just “feeling blue”.
