Come on guys, you just have to admit it—not all your inductions, or our inductions are going to work perfectly all the time—now that’s a fact. Often, with suggestibility tests definitely nothing ever occurs, at times people merely open their eyes after the hypnotic induction, often they just instinctively shoot out of trance in the midst of the whole session then tell you plain and simple that you failed.
Now this might be a grave dent on your self confidence (most especially if you are just a neophyte to the world of hypnosis), yet have no fear because there are easy and simple methods to bounce back gracefully and carry on with a carefully successful hypnotic induction. Well, as soon as this takes place, all those looking at you and especially your subject might likely to lose their faith in your skill and capacity as a hypnotist and your chances of future success with them is considerably lessened.

Okay, calm down now—if you begin fretting at the initial sign of trouble brewing, your subject would then pick it up then shoot it out of trance just like a bullet. The very significant thing to do and remember here is to act as if all is well and going fine.
The primary and most essential golden rule when facing and coping with these difficulties and troubles, is just to keep and maintain your cool. Make sure to project a picture of confidence and calmness, not to mention coolness even though you’re quivering within. So be very sure that your subject totally gets and understands this, by constantly reassuring them that “you’re doing perfectly fine, good job, that’s right” make sure that they know very well and accept everything is going smoothly according to plan.
Then, the next thing you must do is to be creative and flexible. If for instance, your rapid induction did not seem to work out, go ahead and act as if it did, anyway. Then you can move into another hypnotic induction, maybe a progressive relaxation, the JOI method or the Elman induction.
Make sure you move fast and with ease from your failed hypnosis induction to the next one, so that they don’t have the time to consciously criticize or analyze what you have done. And always act calm and composed as if everything is going all right. Ensure that you segue as possible from one hypnotic induction to the succeeding one, for instance, after an unsuccessful rapid induction, you can say, “Now, that’s good—then you can close your eyes, take a deep breath and try to focus your attention on the top of your mind.” It is then guaranteed that if you do everything which you have learned in this article your every hypnotic induction would be a triumph.
Congratulations—you have now learned how to face and deal with what may seem as the biggest fear of most hypnotists…that is when things don’t work and go wrong! (which lucky for you, they no longer would).
