Most of the people I know have been experiencing holiday stress this season. I have to admit that it is indeed quite difficult to maintain a sense of balance or stability on a daily basis. Here are some of the motivational factors I share with my clients and readers to overcome holiday stress and enjoy this season of goodness and festive celebration.
Tip #1. Take a much deserved break—we all deserve it. The Christmas season could indeed be very hectic and frantic. If one gets caught up in the fast-paced lifestyle of the time of year one might become too beat and worn-out. This kind of state of being hinders you from totally relaxing and taking pleasure in a stress-free holiday.

So in order for you to break free from all these, take a break. 2. Maintain your sense of balance and equilibrium. You can achieve this by simply meditating or reflecting from the rain drops on your windows or the fallen leaves from a tree. Being balanced gives you the space to breathe, stop and see the beauty in everything and be thankful to all the simple pleasures in life we just take for granted.
This is also one of the easy ways of controlling holiday stress. 3. ‘Tis the season to entertain, be jolly, be joyful and be entertained in return. In other words, when you’re entertaining your guests, family and friends, you should also let yourself to be entertained as well. So relax, but also keep yourself busy and enjoy the best time of the year without holiday stress.
4. Hang on to your schedules and routines. If you have a schedule or routine of your daily medication or regular gym exercise, then by all means stick to it. The various activities of the joyous and busy holiday season could sometimes make you forget or neglect your routine. Any alibis or lazy excuses for not being able to practice or keep up to your routine or schedules would let you lose your focus and to become self-satisfied and complacent instead of making the most out of the Christmas season.
5. Steer clear of overeating. This time of the year offers several exciting and delicious opportunities for us to indulge and overeat. Now this is also one of the contributors of holiday stress since overeating makes you feel bloated and uneasy. Therefore, in order for you to truly feel, experience and enjoy a Christmas devoid of holiday stress, take some smaller portions when eating.
6. The greatest and by far the ideal gift this season—have fun! Real fun is not synonymous to stressing and fussing about the idealized theory of perfection. Fun is all about striking a harmonious balance by consuming food in smaller portions, being happy and entertained, having a break, yet still carrying on with one’s routine.
Whether it’s the ideal present or just an intimate dinner for Christmas, it’s always meaningful to have fun and make the most of the happiest time of the year—enjoy the holidays!
