Did your doc recommend you to take a stress test already? If yes, what does it indicate? Well, it’s also known as the exercise test or a treadmill test. By taking a stress test, your physician could determine your heart condition in the middle of any physical exertion or an amplified workload.
Being stressed once in a while is fairly common. Yes, as a matter of fact, it can prove to be useful. And why do I say this—it causes us to be more watchful and focused. Nevertheless, it’s a different matter when you’re too stressed out! Now, that can become damaging as being stressed can make you become susceptible and open to some diseases; heart disease is just one of the most hazardous consequences of experiencing too much stress.

When someone is confronted with tons and tons of tasks and responsibilities, work-related pressure, dominant personal situations and emergencies, then he is faced with stress. Regrettably, most individuals simply pay no attention to the signs and symptoms till they get ill and sometimes it’s too late. Moreover, they might just undermine the feeling or they may not be aware that they’re already stressed (and that they need help) and they thought that whatever they’re feeling would merely pass away in due time.
So this is why medical practitioners highly advise people to take a stress test. The process of stress test aids the physicians to determine what kind of physical activity or exercise is considered necessary for a patient. Most importantly, it would find out and verify if there’s an elevated blood supply in the person’s arteries which provide blood to the heart.
A stress test actually begins with the physician asking the patient regarding his health background and condition. He can also ask about how he’s feeling or about his job. Then, the medical sensor pads are attached to a heart monitoring apparatus while at the same time placed on the body of the patient.
The stress test works like this: it enables the human body to work harder than ever—so it means that the body would need more oxygen. For that reason, the heart would beat a lot faster to distribute more oxygen in the cells and to pump more blood. At the course of this test, blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiogram, and the breathing is closely monitored and calculated.
Furthermore, as the treadmill ascents, the treadmill’s speed is also heightened, making the person walk at a faster rate; it can be likened to walking up a tiny hill. The patient is also instructed to breathe into a tube. But when the patient is already extremely tired and worn out, he could inform his doc to discontinue the apparatus.
Then, after it is stopped, the person’s blood pressure and heart rate are also checked. A stress test is utilized to identify and make a diagnosis for existing or possible heart ailments, to determine if the person is in peril amidst of stress and to find out a harmless degree of exercise.
