When it comes to social skills, communication plays a great deal. Okay, so you may have a great idea; but how to express and convey it across is the tricky part. Well, why don't you just simplify it and say what you want? You don't need lots of unnecessary words lest you may come across as boastful or too attention-seeker. Or, you don't wish to annoy people with gibberish.
So how do you tone down your word count? First of all, too much words create a lot of misunderstandings. Yes, I've been there; so, to avoid confusion and misunderstanding, just say what you want and stop right there--before you might utter some unintentional harsh words.

 Don't even think that what may be interesting for you may be interesting for others too. Be aware of the what you are saying and how your audience is reacting.
If you say what you want and keep it short and sweet, it makes you less self-conscious and more about expressing your point across. The trick here is to keep it clear and simple and concentrate on the person you're talking to and not so much about yourself.
In addition to this, if you say what you want as simply as you can, you become more involved and in tune with the whole conversation and you're enthusiastic in what you're talking about.
Great communication is about the other person and how you'll be able to effectively convey your message across.
