Time is a valuable resource we simply can’t afford to waste. This is because we all have such limited times. It is something no individual could earn more of. No matter what we do, we will always keep running out of it. And not even the wealthiest man in the universe can pay for more hours or minutes. That is why, timing is everything in life. In everything that we do, the timing needs to be ideal. Effective time management is extremely critical to success in any field of endeavor. The importance of timing is a lesson or value instilled in us even during our childhood years. Are you familiar with the fable of the hare and the tortoise? It shows us that man can succeed even in the midst of seemingly unbeatable competitions just as long as they know how to manage their time properly. It also shows the effectiveness and wisdom of proper timing. But time management is not a singular ability though. An individual can’t hope to gain or acquire effective time management skills with a single sweep. He or she must have the know how of of the various factors or elements of effective management of duties or tasks in order to get the entire skill.
Therefore, what are the elements of this task? 1. Knowing your priority. You need to prioritize your tasks within the day. Do what must be done first; prioritization is a great deal of effective management. This is an integral part of efficient and effective time management as this will let you perform the tasks that actually matter the most to you. You need to learn how to allot your hours and minutes properly in order to achieve the urgent and significant tasks first. In this way, you will be able to achieve the crucial things first. 2. Managing and planning requires an individual to plan. This means being able to plan properly your tasks before you actually act on them. You also have to know the fact that planning beforehand would save you a lot of time since after all the planning is done, all you have to do is achieve the tasks which you planned. 3. Discipline—effective time management means having the needed discipline to actually act on your plan. Your self discipline determines the actual enforcement of your plans. 4. Focus—you need to bear in mind that though prioritization is essential in effective management of time, the significance of tasks are always relevant. You need to focus in accomplishing a particular goal prior to moving on to the next one. In two goals or objectives, there can be two important tasks. Nevertheless, you have to finish the least urgent or significant task of one objective before you could move on to doing the most important task of the next goal. Focusing or concentrating on individual goals would assist you in your timing.
