Increase Productivity-- Practice Your Personal Time Management Skills

Tags: , ,

Obviously, we’re living and leading busier lives and schedules than we’ve ever been, as brought about by technology, multi-tasking at work, and of course, still balancing a stable home life. With this increasing pressure and workload that we get to encounter almost every day, we can’t afford to waste time and bear the additional stress in our minds as we go home and enjoy quality time with our families.

And that’s why practicing personal time management skills is important so that we can maximize our day and spend our work productively. Number 1 Rule in practicing personal time management-- Prioritize your tasks—since not all tasks or duties are made equally, for the duration of a month, a week or even a day, there might be some tasks or projects which can be more urgent than others, some are left hanging and must need to be finished sooner, and some have deadlines to meet, etc.

On the other hand, there might be some tasks which you need to tick off your to-do list since you’re already done with it. To improve your personal time management, you can prioritize your tasks depending on their importance or their deadlines. And this is where the value of having a to-do list comes.

2. The significance of organization. After having your to-do list, now you can organize them to make your work more efficient, not to mention easier. Personal time management is also trying to act on the high-priority items first however, don’t waste time hopping from one unfinished task to another, as you may realize later on that you don’t get to finish anything.

It’s important to finish at least one task first before jumping to another task as to also organize your mind. Leaving a heap of unfinished work can create a disorganized mind, and may reflect badly on you as a worker. 3. Simplify things—while you may think that everything else in your life is currently overwhelming and scary, wait—first and foremost, bear in mind that they’re all comprised of small tasks, really.

Personal time management tip: rather than striving to map out everything all in one swipe in a slapdash way, you got to simplify all those duties and responsibilities into smaller segments and jot them down. When you’re at work, you can segregate all the usual stuff you do into one list and you could add some other less usual stuff also so you got them included.

Though this does not do much, yet now it’s easier on the eyes. You are now looking at a manageable load of smaller tasks you could perform separately and not a daunting mountain heap of work. 4. Maintain those personal time management skills, tips and strategies. Well I hope you see the tactics following these personal time management guidelines and begin putting it into practice this kind of planning not only in your careers or professional lives, but also to your personal lives as well.

Nevertheless, just don’t get too caught up in over planning. In fact, you may already be doing it (without knowing it) if you’re the painstaking type. So, the solution to stop wasting a lot of time is to plan less.
